Johan Goudsblom (1932-2020)

With great sadness, we have to report that our friend Johan Goudsblom, co-founder and longtime chairman of the Board (1983–2017) of the Norbert Elias Foundation, died on 17 March.

No one has done more for the recognition of Norbert Elias and his intellectual legacy than Joop (as his friends called him). His teaching, publications and personal example have been a source of inspiration to successive generations in many countries.
A memorial meeting will be held at a later stage.
