Call for Applications: International Editorial Board – Human Figurations
Human Figurations is relaunching on the University of Leicester’s Open Journals platform. We invite applications for membership of its International Editorial Board.
About the Journal
Human Figurations is an interdisciplinary journal focused on long-term social processes inspired by Norbert Elias’s work. Originally launched in 2012, the journal is now being relaunched with enhanced indexing, DOI assignment, and a commitment to Diamond Open Access publishing. The journal welcomes contributions from sociology, history, anthropology, political science, criminology and cognate disciplines that engage with processual approaches to understanding social life.
The Role
We seek 15-25 International Editorial Board members who will:
- Review up to 2-3 manuscripts per year within their areas of expertise;
- Submit at least one article of their own in their 3-year term;
- Advise on journal development at the annual meeting (virtual attendance welcome);
- Suggest potential authors and special issue themes, contributing to the editing of special issues where appropriate;
- Promote the journal within their institutional and geographical contexts;
- Support and mentor early career researchers working in processual sociology.
Board members will serve 3-year renewable terms beginning 1st March 2026.
Who We’re Looking For
We welcome applications from scholars who have:
- Expertise in historical and processual sociology, figurational approaches, and/or related theoretical perspectives
- A strong publication record in relevant areas
- Commitment to interdisciplinary scholarship
- Interest in long-term social processes and their analysis
We particularly encourage applications from:
- Scholars based outside Europe and North America
- Early- and mid-career researchers
- Those working at the intersections of traditional disciplines
- Researchers applying processual approaches to contemporary issues
