I only just noticed that Hans Gál is BBC Radio 3’s Composer of the Week this week (starting 5 May). Gál, as Eliasians will know, wrote the music to Norbert Elias’s revue Die Ballade vom Armen Jakob, when they were both interned on the Isle of Man in the Second World War.
His music will be presented by Donald Mcleod from Monday to Friday at 12.00 noon Monday to Friday, repeated at 18.30 (but check the time of the repeat); these times are BST. Subtract one hour for GMT.
